the colourful mountain

Drápuhlíðarfjall, (527 m) is an unusual and colourful mountain containing basalt and rhyolite, with lignite between basalt layers and fossilised tree–trunks. Sulphur pebbles, jasper and other stones. It was long believed there was gold in the mountain, but only very small quantities were found. Drápuhlíðarfjall is the most colourful and one of the most beautiful mountains in Iceland.
